One of the most powerful themes of Passover is the theme of FREEDOM!! We remember our freedom when we drink from the second cup of wine in the Seder — The Cup of Deliverance. This comes from Ex. 6:6 – “I will rescue you from their bondage.” For the Israelites, the blood of the Passover Lamb over their doorposts brought freedom from death of the firstborn, and freedom from the bondage of slavery in Egypt.
For us, accepting and receiving Yeshua’s blood over the doorposts of our hearts brings us freedom from bondage to sin, death, and Satan’s authority in our lives. We are freed from eternal death, and we are freed from having to take anything into our hearts and lives that is from Satan and that brings death into our lives – physically, emotionally or spiritually.
Through Yeshua’s death and resurrection, He defeated Satan and He conquered death:
●1 John 3:8 -…the reason the Son of G-d appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
●Col. 1:13 – For He rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.
●Col 2:15 – When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through HIm.
●Heb 2:14 – So that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death – the devil
●John 12:31 – Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
It is so critical we remember that Satan was defeated and he has NO authority in our lives, unless we give it back to him. How do we give Satan a handle, power and authority in our lives? When we take into our hearts and hold onto things such as:
fear, anxiety, stress; anger, unforgiveness, bitterness; guilt, shame, rejection, hopelessness; self-condemnation, blame and accusations. Let’s talk more about those last three: self-condemnation, blame and accusations.
Now remember, Satan is the accuser (Rev 12:10 -“For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down”), so therefore the thoughts, “voices,” and messages of condemnation, blame and accusation that come:
1) At Us — such as: You’re bad, you’re despicable, you’re stupid, you’re a failure, you’re a loser, “How could you do this?” You don’t have a right to be here, you don’t fit in, it’s all your fault, you deserve punishment, you don’t deserve good things, etc.;
2) At Others — such as: “They’re so…..e.g, stuck up, prideful, etc., They always…, They never…., They’re such…….e.g, losers, etc., It’s all their fault,” criticism, gossip, etc.; or
3) At God — such as: He doesn’t want me to be happy, He wants me to be alone, He’s taken everything away from me, He sent this sickness, He wants me to be miserable, He gives good things to everyone but me, He’s getting back at me/punishing me, He wants me to feel bad, He doesn’t care about me, “How could He do this to me? How could He allow this to happen? Where were you God?”…
…are all coming straight from the origin of accusations – Satan and his army of demons.
It helps me to remember Genesis 3:15 – “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He (Yeshua) will crush your head, and you (Satan) will strike his heel.”
I picture Satan’s head being crushed and therefore He has no voice in my life! In essence, he lost his voice at the cross! Even though he’s still trying to yelp these accusing messages at me like a dying dog, I don’t have to listen!! He has no authority in my life unless I choose to hold onto these messages. His head was crushed for the first time at the cross, Yeshua will bind him in the abyss for 1,000 years when He returns again (Rev 20:2-3), and He will ultimately cast him into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:10). Satan has been defeated, but he’s a sore loser and he knows his time is short, so he will continue to try to get a handle or authority in our lives and steal ground in our hearts that doesn’t belong to him! Let’s stop giving the enemy a foothold in our lives (Eph 4:27)!
Once again, Yeshua freed us from Satan’s authority, and we have been freed from the death that those negative emotions and accusations listed above bring to our bodies, minds, emotions, and our relationships. Now when we do give Satan a handle, or authority in our lives, we have weapons of warfare to cancel His authority and to experience healing and intimacy with the Lord.
We can confess as sin believing these lies or being controlled by these negative emotions; forgive others and ourselves; and cancel Satan’s authority by saying, for example:
●”In Yeshua’s name, I take authority and I bind this spirit of (e.g., fear, rejection, abandonment, shame, depression, guilt, bitterness, anger, self-hatred, self-bitterness, jealousy, envy, false burden-bearing, control, unloving, lying, deception, accusation, condemnation, drivenness, criticalness, self-sacrificing, occultism, false religion, etc.) and I command it to go now in Yeshua’s name.”
●”In Yeshua’s name and authority, I cancel Satan’s power and authority over me in any thoughts, memories or feelings that are telling me ________(lies). I command these deceiving spirits to go in Yeshua’s name. I come out of agreement with these accusing spirits. I break the power of these lies in my life and I release myself from them in Yeshua’s name.”
Then, we can ask God to speak to our hearts and show us the truth about the situation, and show us the truth about who He is and how He sees us.
The Cup of Deliverance and the blood over the doorposts of our hearts at Passover reminds us that Yeshua has FREED us from anything that would give Satan authority and bring death into our lives! We are free to make a choice with every thought, word, emotion, attitude and action to release God’s power in our situations, and not Satan’s power. We don’t have to give the enemy a handle in our lives anymore!! We have been freed to experience God’s power in our lives, His love, His truth, His Spirit, His presence, His peace, His healing, His forgiveness, His restoration, His reconciliation, His comfort, His miracles!
Make the choice to release God’s power in your situations, not Satan’s power, and experience the FREEDOM of Passover in your life today!
